How to apply for a Las Vegas marriage license
To apply for a Las Vegas marriage license, you’ll need to follow a specific set of steps. Here’s a general guideline on how to do this:
1. Plan your visit
Decide when you want to get married, as you’ll need to apply for your marriage license in advance. It is now required that you apply online no more than 90 days before your wedding. You can apply here.
Both parties must complete their own information, and names must match exactly as shown on the identification that will be presented when appearing in person.
Make sure to save your confirmation number and bring it with you to Las Vegas!
You can fill out the application online in advance, but you MUST complete it in person at the Marriage License Bureau.
2. Pick up your Las Vegas Marriage License
When you arrive in Las Vegas, visit the Clark County Marriage License Bureau. Both parties MUST be present
The main office is located at 201 East Clark Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
It’s open seven days a week, typically from 8:00 AM to midnight, but it’s a good idea to check the current hours of operation online before your visit.
No appointment is necessary and it typically takes less than one hour
3. Complete the Marriage License Applicationand pay the license fee
The fee for a marriage license in Las Vegas is $102 (updated 2023). Payment is typically accepted in cash, credit card, or money order. Be sure to check the current fee on the Clark County website.
Make sure all your information is correct!
Once your application is approved, you’ll be issued a marriage license immediately.
4. Get married!
You can have your marriage ceremony performed anywhere in Nevada. There are numerous wedding chapels, venues, and officiants in Las Vegas who can conduct your wedding. You may also choose to have a civil ceremony at the Marriage License Bureau. You can view my favorite Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas here!
Bring all of your paperwork with you to the ceremony (marriage license, marriage certificate and keepsake)
Say your vows in front of at least one witness (someone other than the Officiant- photographer is a great option if you aren’t planning to have family/friends attend).
The Officiant will file your marriage certificate within ten calendar days (if you need proof of marriage earlier, discuss options with your Officiant).
5. Obtain a Marriage Certificate
It’s essential to double-check the current requirements and fees on the official Clark County website or contact the Marriage License Bureau directly, as regulations and fees can change over time. Make sure to complete all the necessary steps to ensure your Las Vegas wedding is legal and recognized.
