There’s something magical about watching a love story unfold from childhood friendships to lifelong commitments. Terry and Annie’s journey is a testament to patience, connection, and finding your way back to each other, just in time for the perfect proposal and a truly unforgettable elopement. There is nothing like celebrating unique love in a unique way through an intimate sunrise elopement at Artist Point in the North Cascades.
Terry and Annie’s story began in middle school, introduced through mutual friends. Snowboarding trips and shared adventures sparked a friendship that grew stronger through high school. When Terry went off to college, the connection evolved into a long-distance romance that lasted two years. Life took them on separate paths for a few years as they finished school and began working full-time, but destiny had other plans.
Reunited at a high school friends’ party, they quickly realized they found something they had both been missing. In 2021, Terry and Annie started dating again and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

Terry, thoughtful and full of adventure, knew exactly how to pop the question. One September weekend, the couple headed to Terry’s family house in the Poconos for a long getaway. On a new waterfall trail, surrounded by the serenity of nature, Terry got down on one knee. In his words: “I got the best yes of my life.” And Annie’s answer, of course, was a resounding yes!

Terry and Annie thrive on shared experiences. From winery and brewery hopping to hiking, traveling to new destinations, and exploring hidden corners of the world, they relish both the simple and extraordinary moments together. They also enjoy quieter days filled with tennis, puzzles, and long walks, an ordinary yet meaningful rhythm that defines their relationship.
Travel holds a special place in their hearts, with favorite trips including Portugal and Puerto Rico and a bucket list that stretches to Switzerland, Austria, Greece, and Croatia. They also share cozy comforts, like coffee and chai tea in the morning, wine and seltzers for celebrations, and indulgent treats ranging from chocolate to ice pops.

Terry and Annie wanted something intimate, low-pressure, and full of meaning, an experience that reflected them rather than tradition. Artist Point at Mount Baker was the perfect choice. With its epic mountain views, alpine lake, and accessibility, it offered the “big” adventure they had been dreaming of. Plus, neither had ever been to Washington, so it was the ultimate chance to explore together.
This particular location is truly a gem if you are looking for easy accessibility to big mountain views.

The morning of their elopement was pure magic. A warm, sunny sunrise greeted them, with smoke from nearby fires adding a fiery red glow to the mountains, an unexpected but breathtaking twist. Terry and Annie were in awe of the views and the ease of hiking around, ready for whatever adventure the day brought.
Small, personal touches made the day uniquely theirs: Annie crafted her own bouquet from flowers picked at Pike Place Market, they shared mimosas in the parking lot with family’s champagne glasses, and after their ceremony, they BBQ’d and cut cake in their pajamas while watching football. The bride’s sister and her husband were included, making the day feel both intimate and shared with loved ones.

As their photographer, it was incredible to witness the couple’s joy, laughter, and wonder at the mountains around them. Knowing they were a bit shy in front of the camera, I guided them with prompts while allowing them to “explore,” resulting in authentic, candid moments that truly reflect who they are. The highlight? Capturing them laughing together, framed by the grandeur of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan.

Terry and Annie’s elopement reminds us that wedding days don’t have to follow a script, they should follow the couple. By creating a day that reflected their personalities and desires, they embraced adventure, intimacy, and simplicity. Their willingness to be flexible and go with the flow ensured the day was stress-free and meaningful.
When they look back at these photos in 5, 10, or 20 years, I hope they feel the same awe, joy, and gratitude they did on that mountain sunrise, grateful for a day planned just for them, in the heart of the mountains, celebrating a love that has stood the test of time.
Terry and Annie’s story is a perfect reminder: sometimes the best weddings are the ones that let the couple’s personality shine through, the ones where the journey is as beautiful as the destination.
