Alyssa & Phil created a day that was completely centered around all that was truly meaningful to them. The people in their lives, the experiences they’ve had together and nostalgia from growing up hillside in Petaluma California. That is why they chose to have their wedding hillside in Petaluma California at Tara Firma Farms. Their hillside Wedding in Petaluma California was shared with so many people they love from all over the world. Their world’s collided and they couldn’t have had a more beautiful day.

Getting Ready at Blue Dot in Petaluma California

To start the day, Alyssa and Phil decided to get ready in a space that was extremely special to them. They decided to do the first look and getting ready photos for their Wedding at Blue Dot Farm located in Southern Petaluma. This was their friends beautiful home overlooking the rolling hills of Petaluma. This space made me feel as if I was in a private Italian villa. There was so much great natural light and the home wrapped around a beautiful fountain and Fig Tree (scroll to view how we used the fig tree).

Alyssa and Phil were able to be on separate sides of the home while getting ready. They spent the morning together getting ready with family members until it was time to put their Wedding attire on and have their first look in the garden.

First Look in the Garden

When couples decide to do a first look for their Wedding, I get so excited. I think this is such a special and intimate moment before all the Wedding day festivities start. Alyssa and Phil have always loved their friends garden space, so we chose this spot for their first look. Seeing Alyssa walk through the door as the wind was blowing the curtain through was breathtaking. There is so much emotion in this moment and I loved getting to capture every second.

Since there was a fig tree in the middle of the garden, it only felt right to pick one and have Alyssa and Phil share a snack for a few couples photos. It was perfectly ripe too!

These next few photos made me feel as if I was walking down a cobblestone alley in Italy and we found the perfect secluded corner for photos.

A Hillside Ceremony at Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma California

After wrapping up couple’s portraits and taking a few family photos, we headed over to Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma, California for the Ceremony. Instead of having the ceremony in the barn, they decided to have it at the very top of the hill so that it overlooked one of Alyssa’s favorite views. The rolling hills of Petaluma where she grew up. It was a sunny, warm and perfect day. So many of their closest family and friends gathered around them to watch them say their most poetic vows. They had an elemental blessing of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

Golden Hour Hillside Wedding Portraits

Golden hour photos lined up so perfectly following the ceremony and cocktail hour. AND they were dropped off riding in style in the trunk bed. The light trickled in so magically and we took our time, making sure Alyssa + Phil were enjoying every moment. Alyssa loved the giant tree on the hillside in Petaluma, so we staged a Forest and Jenny moment for them in the process. My favorite part about Weddings is getting to see couple’s be themselves during their big day. There was no stress here, just fun and so much love. For a hillside Wedding in Petaluma California, this has got to be one of my favorite golden hour sessions.

Celebration Reception in the barn at Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma California

Alyssa & Phil’s Wedding guests headed down to the barn for cocktail hour while we took golden hour photos. They had an oyster station and the greatest charcuterie board I’ve ever seen. For dinner, they served Paella, which was something I had never experienced, but it was SO freaking good. If you’re looking for someone to cater Paella for your Petaluma or Sonoma Wedding, definitely give Paella del Reyes a look! After dinner Alyssa and Phil had their first dance, but not any first dance.. they were wrapped in a red cloth by all their loved ones, hugged tightly and were gracefully rolled out of it.

I think every single guest was on the dance floor. They had not one, but two DJ’s who literally kept the party alive. Personally, it’s refreshing to hear a different wedding playlist and the music choices here were one of kind. One of the DJ’s even had everyone play a massive game of rock, paper, scissors to spice things up.

At the end of the night, I snuck Alyssa + Phil away to take a few photos by their families vintage thunderbird. This was Alyssa’s grandparents car and it was so special for them to take a few evening photos with it.

This hillside Wedding in Petaluma was so perfectly crated and I am grateful to have been a part of every moment. From start to finish.
